Google will warn if a website is not optimized for mobile

As of today, (comes first in the results of ) Google will give an indication below the result when it detects that smartphone users will be taken to a home page, instead of the displayed web page. It will also give the option to click “Try Anyway” if you want to get to the home page, reports the TNW.

If Google detects on any of the pages of a site redirecting smartphone users to the homepage, it will inform the owners of the website with a in Webmaster Tools under “Smartphone Crawl Errors.”
