The 53 and a 52-year-old, national, were arrested in the spontaneous process

It was investigated by the Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate, after a police internet investigation that lasted more than four months, a case of illegal collection, possession, processing and sale of a large number of records with personal data, in digital files - lists.

For this case, a case file was filed against two citizens, aged 52 and 53, for violation of the "personal data" legislation, acts carried out as a follow-up and as an accomplice. At the same time, they are accused of committing the offense of Tax Evasion and Money Laundering from criminal activities (money laundering).

In particular, the investigation of the case began following a complaint received by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, according to which unknown perpetrators, with the aim of making their existence and activity known, send mass messages to users of email inviting business owners to purchase a paid, electronic archive of their holdings that includes a list of one hundred and fifty thousand (150.000) email inboxes.

The Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office was informed of the above, which ordered the d preliminary examination, while it issued relevant Decrees and Decrees for the lifting of the secrecy of communications and banking secrecy.

From the thorough digital and systematic online survey carried out by specialized officers of the Electronic Crime Division, in cooperation with the competent Internet Service, Telecommunications and Banking Organizations, the data of the perpetrators as well as the electronic traces through which they circulated via the Internet, personal data files.

At the same time, the communication phones they used for their illicit and illegal activity, as well as the bank accounts in question, were used to pay the "price" for the sale of the electronic personal data file.

Early in the morning (18-5-2015) a broad police operation took place, during which officers of the Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office, with the help of a personal data protection team, carried out, with the presence of a Judicial Officer, parallel surveys in homes and workplaces of those involved in Attica.

From the on-site digital survey carried out on electronic storage media found in a resident's home in Athens, files and 406.000-based personal data records such as names, mobile numbers, postal addresses and e-mail addresses were found and seized in digital form - e-mails. At the same time, a portable computer was seized.

The seized digital testimonies will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for laboratory tests.

Those arrested in the case filed against them will be brought to the Attorney of the First Instance of Athens.
