Cars from Gran Turismo on the roads? Probably not so soon. There are several reasons why cars on the market look a bit the same: Car designers can't just do whatever they want. They are limited by its laws physicsand aerodynamics, the endless government regulations, but also by the wishes of the shareholders. But what happens when they can break free from these limits?
What would they plan? If you have it PlayStation with the game Gran Turismo 6 you are probably prepared for what will follow.
To mark the 15 anniversary of the game, Sony has called on car manufacturers around the world to design special vehicles for a virtual world.
The results are crazy. Each participating automaker was tasked with creation of a grand touring vehicle ('Gran Turismo') with two doors and very high horsepower.
Some have introduced a classic GT, such as the Mercedes-Benz AMG with a superb V8 engine. Others were more radical, like Aston Martin's sci-fi engine.
So far, there are nine of these cars and they are available to download (free). Sony says it will introduce more in 2015, from companies like Audi, Lamborghini, Mini, and Peugeot. To see the available cars open your PlayStation. Just don't expect to see them on the streets anytime soon.
