Greece: Copyright is all the money

We recently read a very interesting announcement from the Pirate Party of Greece. Like a news page technology, we try to avoid partisanship, but this particular topic seems to concern the entire online community.

On the occasion of the adoption of the CDI program [1] by the Ministry of Education ( https://forum.pirateparty.gr / download / file.php? id = 1446 PDF), as a Party of Pirates of Greece, we need to clarify some things:

We are not surprised that the OPI material on intellectual property focuses on a single topic. How much money someone will make from their work. "All the money" is the reference to the creator as the recipient of the profits, as the reality is completely different. The entertainment industry is the real thief and not those who don't have the money to enjoy a work and choose to download it. They present her as equal copy and selling a third party's work for financial gain, which is a despicable act, in addition to being illegal, with the personal use of the work by sharing!

Το επόμενο βήμα ποιο θα είναι; Να πουν στα παιδιά μας ότι δεν πρέπει να δανείζουν και να δανείζονται βιβλία; Μη γελάτε. Στις ΗΠΑ υπάρχει ήδη κίνημα για την κατάργηση των δανειστικών βιβλιοθηκών από τους οπαδούς της πνευματικής "ιδιοκτησίας", το οποίο και εξαπλώνεται στην Ευρώπη. Μήπως να χρεώνουν τους φίλους τους είσοδο και να αποδίδουν τα έσοδα στην ΑΕΠΙ όταν τους καλούν να ακούσουν το CD ή το ψηφιακό τραγούδι που αγόρασαν γιατί "αγόρασαν το δικαίωμα να το ακούσουν μόνο αυτοί"; Φυσικά δεν κάνουν καμία αναφορά στο γεγονός ότι θέλουν ακόμα και αυτό το δικαίωμα να μπορούν να το ελέγχουν με ψηφιακά μέσα κάνοντας παράνομη την παράκαμψη DRM για υλικό που έχει αγοραστεί για προσωπική χρήση, όταν αυτή καθίσταται αδύνατη λόγο του ίδιου του DRM!

The virtual world [2] trying to teach our children is chilly and deals only with the financial exploitation of a work, not with the very creation and promotion of culture, intellectual culture and progress. They completely forget the terms "derivative works" and "fair use", while they do not say that they are not usually the creators who make the money, but the production companies that choke the creators with the contracts they impose on them.

The entertainment industry that pays for these programs is currently claiming to extend the power of intellectual property indefinitely across the planet. Today the protection is 70 years after the death of the creator (!!!), which can bring profit to the companies in some cases, but in reality this protection is responsible for the disappearance of many works for decades or even permanently from the our culture [3].

Φανταστείτε στο παράδειγμα του μουσικού του κόμικ του ΟΠΙ, να αναφερόταν σε αυτό που διεκδικεί στην πραγματικότητα η βιομηχανία θεάματος, ότι για κάθε πάτημα της χορδής της κιθάρας θα έπρεπε ο μουσικός να πληρώνει για την πνευματική ιδιοκτησία σε αυτόν που εφηύρε την κιθάρα (ή στην εταιρία που αγόρασε τα «δικαιώματά» της ή στην εταιρεία που του πούλησε το δικαίωμα να χρησιμοποιεί την κιθάρα). Για κάθε νότα που γράφει ο μουσικός θα έπρεπε να πληρώνει «δικαιώματα» και στην εταιρία που κατέχει την πνευματική ιδιοκτησία για την... music και στην εταιρία που κατέχει την πνευματική ιδιοκτησία για την παρτιτούρα και για κάθε παρτιτούρα που εκτυπώνεται ο τυπογράφος να πληρώνει «δικαιώματα» στον... Γουτεμβέργιο!

Should there be copyright protection? Yes we must. But it must not be at the expense of civilization. It should not be done to the detriment of the creators themselves as they are today in industry. And of course it should not be at the expense of education and progress.

Το υπουργείο παιδείας θα πρέπει να προσθέσει στην ύλη που διδάσκει και αυτή την άποψη που είναι τεκμηριωμένη, όχι με χρήματα των λόμπι, αλλά με μελέτες πανεπιστημιακών ιδρυμάτων για την ανοιχτή κουλτούρα [4]. Θεωρούμε αδιανόητο ότι μία δήθεν προοδευτική κυβέρνηση αφήνει να περάσει η προπαγάνδα του ΟΠΙ έτσι εύκολα στα σχολεία μας και στα παιδιά μας. Προσπαθεί να δημιουργήσει καλούς "καταναλωτές" αντί για σκεπτόμενους ανθρώπους που έχουν σκοπό την βελτίωση όλων.

Το υπουργείο παιδείας θα πρέπει σε συνεννόηση με την ΕΕΛ/ΛΑΚ να προσθέσει στην ύλη την διδασκαλία των νόμιμων εναλλακτικών [5] στην "ιδιοκτησία" της βιομηχανίας, καθώς αυτές αγνοούνται τελείως ως επιλογές από τον ΟΠΙ.
