A targeted operation was carried out during the previous period by the Financial Police & Cybercrime Prosecution Service in the wider area of Thessaly. to combat subscription piracy and to protect intellectual property.
The result of the operation was the capture of a 29hronian native in Volos for violating copyright law and the formation of standalone formal proceedings at the expense of four (4) nationals in Larissa (39hronou and 31hronou) and Karditsa (39hronou and 37chronou) accused of violating of intellectual property law and the protection of subscription services.
More specifically, the investigation of the cases started after lawsuits in the Financial Police & Cybercrime Prosecution Service, a company protecting audiovisual works against a website and a company providing electronic media services for satellite "piracy" services, through illegal distribution of their TV signal to internet subscribers.
Specifically, following a complaint against a website that provided the ability to view, upload and share movies and other files that fall under the law on intellectual property, to internet users, from the online investigation that was carried out as part of a Preliminary Examination following a relevant Prosecutor's Order, it emerged that the administrator of the website is the 29-year-old citizen.
On 11/12/2013, a team of police officers went to his home in the area of Volos, in the presence of a Public Prosecutor's Office, where from the on-site control to the portable electronic his computer was found to be running the website in question. In addition, it was established that the website was active during the investigation, which is why the 29-year-old was arrested with the automatic procedure and taken to the Volos District Court on 12/12/2013.
In addition, in a complaint from an online media service provider, it was reported that unknown internet users illegally broadcast their subscription service to a large number of Internet users.
From the police investigation carried out in the context of the removal of communications secrecy, the electronic traces of the four (4) nationals in Larissa and Volos emerged.
In 12 / 12 / 2013 surveys conducted in Larissa, in the presence of a Prosecutor, a digital satellite receiver and an internal hard disk storage were found and seized in 39rono's home.
Also in stores of the 31-year-old defendant in areas of Larissa, a total of five (5) satellite digital receivers and one (1) computer hard drive were found and confiscated. From the on-site investigation carried out on the hard drive, the special software ( CCCAM ) was found installed, which can be used for the aforementioned illegal activity.
The next day (13 / 12 / 2013) investigations took place in Karditsa, in the presence of a Prosecutor, where three (39) digital satellite receivers, two (3) internal storage hard drives, two (2) satellite readers were seized and seized at 2ron's home cards, two (2) laptops and eighteen (18) satellite cards.
In a survey conducted at the 37 store, a portable computer was found where, from the on-site investigation carried out on it, the special software (CCCAM) that facilitated its illegal activity was also installed.
Seized digital testimonies will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for laboratory tests.
The files brought to the detriment of the parties concerned will be submitted to the competent Prosecutors' Prosecutions.
