Hacking Team in the wake of hack the excuses

Η αμφιλεγόμενη Ιταλική εταιρία κυβερνο-ασφάλειας Hacking Team μόλις δήλωσε στο ότι πίσω από το hack των συστημάτων της, θα πρέπει να υπάρχει μια κυβέρνηση και προειδοποίησε ότι η επακόλουθη διαρροή του of its applications will be a gift for criminals.Hacking Team 2

For those who do not know, an unknown hacker managed to break the Hacking Team systems last week and download 400GB data from the company, which is developing monitoring software that allows Authorities and intelligence services to monitor suspects' phones and computers and not only.

Many of the leaked data, including thousands of e-mail private companies, are currently being dumped on the Wikileaks website. The source code of a large number of secret programs is also released freely on the Internet.

The leaked emails show that Hacking Team has collaborated with many state institutions from countries like Italy, the United States and Australia.

It has also had contacts with countries that do not respect human rights, such as Libya, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Sudan.

Vincenzetti defended the company's choices by stating that it had never violated the international fair enough.

He even said, for example, that when his company realized that Ethiopia was using its software to spy on a journalist, she asked for explanations and then terminated the contract. (!)

"Given its complexity, I think the attack must have been carried out at the governmental level, or by someone who has huge funds at his disposal," David Vincenzetti, chief executive of the Hacking Team, told La Stampa on Sunday.

What do you say? Could it be a government that violates a collaborating company and then uploads data to WikiLeaks? It sounds somewhat unbelievable and of course gives a very good excuse to the Hacking Team looking at the future and of course wants to keep its clientele.

Could it be a government to leak the malware code freely online?

Somehow I have to argue that hacking in their systems was not an easy matter, as if admitting the opposite would be a company for laughs and crying.

Η company advises its customers to stop using their programs until to upgrade the software, and warned everyone that all computer systems could be vulnerable.

The software upgrade, of course, presupposes the continuation of the Hacking Team, which is desperately trying to maintain a "reputation and clientele."

"The Hacking Team's research has determined that there is currently sufficient code in place that allows anyone to develop software against any target of their choice," the company said on its website.

“Terrorists, extortionists and others can deploy this technology at will if they have the ability to do so.”

The website of course continues to promote its products in a prominent position: "… Absolute control over your goals .."

The 12-year-old Hacking Team was named one of five "Internet Enemy Companies" in a 2012 report by Reporters Without Borders.
