The developer of HildaCrypt Ransomware decided to release the wrenches Ransomware decryption. With these keys he allows all his victims malicioussoftware to recover their files for free.
When a new ransomware is discovered or some parchange, it is very common for researchers to announce it on Twitter. This week, researcher GrujaRS discovered a new ransomware variant and identified it as a variant of STOP.

Last night, the ransomware developer contacted the researcher to tell him that the identification was incorrect because it was in fact a variant of HildaCrypt Ransomware.
Following this announcement, the developer decided to release the main decryption keys for ransomware.
After giving the keys, Michael Gillespie confirmed that he was correct and released a decryptor.

According to the malware developer, HildaCrypt Ransomware was only developed for fun and "was really an educational thing".
The developer also said it will likely halt the development of ransomware and focus on engaging in more legitimate efforts by the cyber security community.
