The developer of HildaCrypt Ransomware decided to release the wrenches Ransomware decryption. With these keys it allows all victims of the malicious software to recover them archives them for free.
When a new ransomware or variant is discovered, it is common for researchers to post it on Twitter. This week, the GrujaRS researcher discovered a new variant of ransomware and identified it as a STOP variant.

Last night, the ransomware developer contacted the researcher to tell him that the identification was incorrect because it was in fact a variant of HildaCrypt Ransomware.
Following this announcement, the developer decided to release the main decryption keys for ransomware.
After giving the keys, Michael Gillespie confirmed that he was correct and released a decryptor.

According to the malware developer, HildaCrypt Ransomware was only developed for fun and "was really an educational thing".
The developer also said it will likely stop developing ransomware and focus on getting involved in more legitimate community efforts security of cyberspace.
