If you own one tablets running Windows 8.1 and have installed Update 1, you may have noticed that the power button is missing from the screen Start. This is by design since for some screen sizes, Windows 8.1 Update hides this button to save screen space.
Also, if your device supports Connected Standby, the button will hide regardless of the screen size after Microsoft believes you will use the physical power button to shut down the tablet. However, if you still want to turn on the shutdown button on the Home screen, you can do so by following the instructions below.
- Open the Registry Editor ( press the Win + R keys and in the new window write regedit )
- Go to the following key:
HKCU \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ ImmersiveShell \ Launcher
- Create a new one price DWORD with the name Launcher_ShowPowerButtonOnStartScreen and set it to 1.
- Restart it Explore.exe or restart Windows.
Finish. Now the Power button will appear on its home screen Tablet you.
