Melting the DNA? Believe it or not, until today, the police had a very serious problem with identifying suspects who are identical twins (homozygous twins).
In the future, however, they can be much more effective, as British researchers have developed a technique that melts DNS to identify existing differences.
British researchers managed to separate it DNA identical twins, i.e., individuals derived from the same fertilized egg and having a substantially identical genetic sequence.
The team of scientists has concluded that heating genes breaks hydrogen bonds formed according to the environment and habits of a person.
If the twins do not live exactly the same life, these bonds will break into several points temperatureand they can quickly determine who is who.
This technique requires a relatively large sample of DNA, and could not work if there is only a minimal amount of genes from the scene of a crime, according to Engadget.
However, it takes only a few hours to get a good result.
When the technology reaches the level of immediate applications, law enforcement authorities will easily be able to identify the criminal duo.
