New addition to iGuRu.gr. In June 2011, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the agency responsible for managing all endings (TLDs – Top Level Domains), has decided to significantly increase the number of TLDs, changing the way we connect to the Internet.
So domain endings for everything will slowly start to appear: Domains with city endings, food endings, sports names, endings art and entertainment and anything else you can think of is now possible with the "opening" of ICANN.
We mention little by little, as such a large change, of course it is a long process. Thus, from 2012 until today new tlds are registered almost daily.
According to ICANN, the new name registration speed is at 1000 new generic TLDs per year.
The well-known registrar and hosting provider papaki.gr reports:
According to Michele Jourdan, Communications Manager at ICANN, “the new gTLDs represent one of the biggest changes to the Internet since its birth. Although we won't have any technological impact on the way the Internet works, they could change the way people search for information and the way businesses design and build their online presence".
Recently, gTLD .News was released. We thought it would be very good for our website, as the name we have already established is iGuRu News.
So yiguru.news yesterday belongs to our network.
