A case of child pornography via the Internet was investigated by the Directorate for the Prosecution of Electronic Crime, in the context of targeted actions and investigations, in collaboration with foreign Authorities, to combat the phenomenon.
A case file of a self-defunct proceeding against 40hronik was formed in the area of Athens.
In particular, the investigation of the case began after an online check on network διαμοιρασμού αρχείων peer-to-peer (P2P), για κατοχή και διακίνηση υλικού πορνογραφίας ανηλίκων. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, καταγράφηκαν τα ηλεκτρονικά ίχνη ατόμων, που κατείχαν και διαμοίραζαν συγκεκριμένο archive υλικού πορνογραφίας ανηλίκων. Από τον έλεγχο, προέκυψε ηλεκτρονικό ίχνος που ανήκει σε χρήστη εντός της ελληνικής επικράτειας.
A thorough digital investigation and analysis was carried out by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate data and elements of the case, while an Order and a Board were issued by the competent Prosecution Authority, to remove the secrecy of communications.
From the methodical police and digital research and analysis of electronic traces, the owner of the Internet connection in question was identified.
Then, yesterday morning (19-11-2015), a team of police officers conducted a surprise search, in the presence of a Judicial Officer, at the 40-year-old's home in Athens. The on-site search of the 40-year-old's digital media revealed the possession of hundreds (1.170) files of child pornography depicting minors children, under the age of fifteen in sexual acts with each other and with adults.
Three (3) internal computer hard drives were found and seized within the framework of the investigation, which will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for laboratory tests.
The actor, with the filed file, is brought to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Athens.
