Microsoft fired him Internet Explorer από τα Windows 11, καθιστώντας τον προσβάσιμο μόνο μέσω του “IE Mode” στο νέο πρόγραμμα περιήγησης Edge. Τώρα η εταιρεία ετοιμάζεται να τον remove and from some versions of Windows 10.
Microsoft confirmed again last month that Internet Explorer 11 will be retired on June 15, 2022. The update will roll out to Windows 10 from version 20H2 and all newer versions. Server and enterprise editions of Windows 10 will not be affected. Of course nothing will change for anyone who still uses Windows 8.1, 7 or earlier versions.
What exactly will change?
Τα αρχεία που άνοιγαν με IE (όπως shortcuts web pages and HTML documents) will also be redirected to Edge.
Eventually, IE will be permanently disabled with some future updates. Once this is done, all traces of IE will be completely removed. Microsoft recommends using Internet Explorer (IE Mode) on Edge (which uses the IE engine) if you need to access sites that do not work in modern browsers.
It's important to mention that the built-in Internet Explorer engine on Windows (MSHTML) won't go away, only the browser itself. The MSHTML engine powers the embedded web views in many Windows apps, which is why it's included in Windows 11 and used for IE Mode in Edge.
Microsoft plans to continue supporting IE Mode on the Edge until 2029.
The forthcoming transition will have a historic impact. Internet Explorer has been a program in the computer world for decades and now it will eventually disappear as a standalone application. It's the end of an era that I think we will not miss.
