From the Electronic Crime Prosecution Division of the Hellenic Police, a case of serial fraud was investigated via the Internet and a case file was filed against a 26-year-old woman.
The investigation of the case started after a complaint by a legal representative of a Greek company, which is active in the issuance and distribution of "electronic" money and in the provision of services payments.
In particular, the company received complaints from its customers, according to which the company's electronic account holder was writing electronic codes in various advertisements in websites of the internet, where it was allegedly available for sale productat prices more favorable than the market, in order for consumers to make an advance deposit for the purchase of a specific product, using the payment codes.
In this way, when the consumer made the advance payment at one of the branches of the company's network of dealers, the unknown person immediately stopped communicating with them, retention of the prepayment amount.
As it was found by the company, with the same data of a trader, other fraudulent Internet transactions took place between July 2015 and January 2016, with the result that more than twenty people were deceived and the company suffered a loss that exceeded three thousands (3.000,00) euro.
The aforementioned were brought to the notice of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office, from which a preliminary examination was ordered.
A thorough and comprehensive digital investigation was carried out by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate and analysis of the data and elements of the case and the involvement of the 26-year-old citizen in the case under investigation was identified, while at the same time her participation and possible involvement in other similar - related criminal acts are being investigated.
26 was not arrested because the conditions of the case were not met while the case file was filed with the competent Prosecutor.
