The official autopsy on the body of John McAfee has shown that he committed suicide in his cell in a Catalan prison while awaiting extradition on USA.
The incident was reported by El Pais newspaper, citing unnamed sources, who were close to the necropsy process.
The American John McAfee was the creator of the same name software security, and was found by prison officials hanging in his cell last Wednesday. It appeared to be a suicide, his lawyer said last week.
His lawyer, Javier Villalba, said on Friday that McAfee's widow, Janis, had asked for a second, independent autopsy after the results of the first were published.
The businessman was wanted in the US for tax evasion. He was arrested last October at Barcelona airport and taken into custody. Hours before he was found dead in his cell, Spanish justice had given the green light for his extradition to the United States.
