Joomla has arrived at the 3.5.0 version, adding many features, with full support for PHP 7 and at twice the speed.
First of all, the Joomla 3.5 is the first version to fully support PHP 7, the latest major version of PHP.
PHP 7 support has done wonders for Joomla, with its developers reporting that the new version 3.5 is twice as fast when running on PHP 7, and also consumes half the μνήμη compared to previous versions.
The second major feature added in version 3.5 is extremely interesting for webmasters, especially those who are obsessed with security updates. Joomla now includes an email notification system that automatically checks the servers for a new version, and then sends an email to the administrator.
Other additional features are the new built-in statistical feature that collects items and anonymously sends them to Joomla servers. The Jommla team says they will use this data to gather more accurate information about how users are developing CMS, for the type of servers, for its type basedata, and all the things that will help Joomla developers to customize and optimize their CMS. All data collected will be publicly available, and anyone will be able to check it.
Additionally, Joomla 3.5 supports drag-and-drop integration pictures, counts articles, and has a special feature that allows the user to download useful system and environment debugging information to their own site.
The new version of Joomla 3.5 is of course free, open source, and available through the GitHub page.
