The new Kali Linux 2.0, the next version of the operating system hackers prefer, will be released on 11 August under the code name Kali Sana.
The popular penetration testing platform contains hundreds of the best open source hacking tools code in a "hacked" Debian distribution, making it a functional, essential tool for hackers and pentesters.
Developers of Kali Linux report that the first redesign of the 2013 regenerated platform will be presented at the next DEFCON hacking conference.
"We've been pretty quiet lately, which usually means we're getting ready," the team said.
"In recent months we have been working feverishly on the next generation of Kali Linux and we are very pleased with the way it has been going so far."
"There are a lot of new features and interesting new features in this update, but we'll keep our mouths shut until we release it."
The platform features a redesigned and improved interface work user, new menu, and the latest penetration testing tools.
It also has native Ruby 2.0 to help load the Metasploit hacking box quickly, it will have weekly updates of core tools and will display desktop notifications and screencasting.
Upgrading will be the first two years since BackTrack Linux was re-designed and became Kali Linux in May of 2013.
