The new Kali Linux 2017.1 is here

Offensive Security today announced the availability of its third rolling stock versionof the penetration testing operating system, Kali Linux.

Kali Linux 2017.01 is the third Rolling (rolling) version of Kali Linux and comes after several months of research and development. It brings the latest and greatest penetration testing tools, as well as a new base synchronized with the software repositories of the stable release of the Debian GNU/Linux 9.0 “Stretch.” operating system.

The Kali Linux 2017.02 distribution provides, in addition to the latest tool and operating packages, a completely new security feature.

The new version, Kali Linux 2017.1, features preletterdrivers for RTL8812AU wireless chipsets, improved GPU support and comes with Azure and AWS images of Kali Linux for cloud instances.

“We are pleased to announce the availability of the Kali Linux 2017.1 release, which brings with it several exciting updates and features. The updated kernel provides more and better hardware support, as well as a host of updated tools. But this version has a few more surprises up its sleeve. The driver embedding for the RTL8812AU wireless chipsets is here. These drivers are not part of the normal Linux kernel which has now been modified to be added.

This chipset supports 802.11 AC, making it one of the first drivers to come up with this standard. ”
