Σύμφωνα με πρόσφατα στατιστικά data of Kaspersky Lab for the first quarter of 2015, digital criminals made more than 23.000 attacks DDoS, which were supported by botnet (malicious networks) to online resources in 76 countries, including Greece.
In the first quarter of 2015, a total of 23.095 DDoS attacks occurred. These hit targets in 76 countries, a size higher than 15% over the 66 countries recorded in the fourth quarter of 2014.
China, the USA and Canada were the countries most affected by DDoS attacks in the first quarter. These attacks were controlled by Command & Control (C&C) servers located mainly in the US, China and the UK.
The "leading" positions of China and the USA in both rankings can be explained by the relatively low prices for web hosting in these countries, which results in the most data Centers to be there.
“A DDoS attack is often a cross-border effort. The client is in one country, the executor in another, the C&C servers are hosted in a third, and the bots involved in the DDoS attack are scattered around the world. This often makes it more complicated to investigate attacks, την καταστολή των botnet και τη σύλληψη των υπεύθυνων.
Η Kaspersky Lab recommends the use of security solutions to filter "unwanted" requests from digital criminals and separate them from legitimate online traffic.
For example, the Kaspersky DDoS Protection solution combines Kaspersky Lab's proven experience with in-house technology, such as DDoS Intelligence. DDoS Intelligence is a system that analyzes the information sent by C&C servers to botnets, with the aim of enhancing protection against DDoS attacks.
Kaspersky Lab's statistics for botnet activity in the first quarter of 2015 are based on data collected by the DDoS Intelligence system.
