H Kaspersky Lab unites its forces with the City of London Police to train police forces and businesses all over the UK on how to tackle digital crime.

To tackle the rise in digital crime, London City Police has called for Kaspersky Lab specialists to help train police officers from every level on ever-increasing online threats. This innovative curriculum - the first of its kind for the UK prosecution authorities - will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to identify and deal with online crimes - from cheating an individual victim during an online purchase to the targeted business against a loss-making thousands of pounds.

In this context, the trainees will use specialized training tools and a special methodology developed by Kaspersky Lab. During the training, the need to improve the reporting process of fraud incidents by businesses will also be highlighted to ensure that the police and security services can have a clear picture of the issue.
The first program was successfully completed by the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau in February of 2014. The training program focuses on threats against financial institutions and government agencies, which are also the leading e-fraud targets in the UK. However, the skills acquired by the participants can also be used to combat the digital threats that the public may face.
"As the complexity of digital crime is steadily increasing, it is imperative that the knowledge of the service on these threats grows at the same pace," said David Clark, Head of the Financial Crime Division at the City of London Police. "With over 21.000 digital crimes being recorded in the UK during the first quarter of 2014, it is clear that simple users and businesses are at risk and need protection. The UK police must be prepared to recognize these crimes and have the necessary knowledge to face them face-to-face. The collaboration with Kaspersky Lab further underlines our role as a national police force against financial crime and will strengthen our capabilities to combat digital fraud and digital crime nationwide, "he added.
