More specifically, over 2.615.000 incidents were detected on the computers of the users participating in the Kaspersky Security Network, while over the same period of 2013 there were almost 1.901.000 incidents. However, internet threats in Greece have decreased (1.359.000 incidents were detected in the first half of the year 2014 while almost 3.384.000 incidents were detected in the same period last year).

At a rate 35%, the users in Greece faced local threats in the first half of the year 2014. These are threats that are transmitted through removable devices such as USB, CD and DVD. This percentage shows an increase in 6 units compared to the corresponding period of 2013. Thus, Greece is ranked 117, near Bulgaria, Poland, France and Portugal. This year, the threats coming from the internet influenced it 31,6% of users, while the corresponding figure was 40,5% in the first half of 2013. However, the rate is still high as it places Greece at 26's position worldwide with regard to threats related to internet surfing. Countries like Spain, France and Lithuania are higher than Greece in this ranking, while Portugal and Austria follow.

"Although the number of online threats detected in Greece has decreased, during the first half of the year we observed a significant increase in local threats. To protect users' data, money and identity, we must consider all types of malicious . Businesses and home users should be aware of these risks and take care of their computers and mobile devices by using comprehensive security solutions and following a few rules," commented Christian Funk, Senior Virus Analyst at Kaspersky Lab.

The company's experts analyzed and evaluated the incidents Phishing based on its tool Kaspersky Lab for anti-Phishing scans, which detects all Phishing left-wing in which the user attempted to gain access via one spam email or from the internet. According to this tool, the attacks Phishing which exploit search engines and electronics were at the top of digital threats in Greece in the first half of 2014, as they touched 44,47%.
