Kaspersky Lab – Today, which an important part of a child's life concerns online activities, parents must find additional ways to protect and educate their children. 
The new Kaspersky Safe Kids solution, which can be used on multiple platforms, is designed to help parents learn more about their children and take care not only for their real life but also for their virtual lives.
According research of Kaspersky Lab and B2B International, more than half of Europe's parents (52%) reported an increase in the number of online threats their children faced while almost one in three (30%) admitted that they were unable to control what they see or what makes his child on the Internet.
Kaspersky Lab specialists are confident that an integrated approach is required to protect children on the Internet:
parents need to talk to their children about Internet security, teach them rules to stay safe and - of course - use specific technological solutions.

Managing the solution (including creating custom rules) is done through an account in My Kaspersky. The rules allow parents to keep track of the time their child is using the devices, the apps he installs, the websites he's watching, his location, and his circle of contacts:
• Device usage: Children often lose the sense of time when they play with a device. Safe Kids gives parents the ability to determine how long a device can be used or to choose specific hours on specific days of the week that the child will be able to stay online. The Time Management feature can be configured to prevent access to the device when the timeout is exceeded (not available for iOS devices), or Safe Kids can tell the child that it is time to stop using the device without hindering access to it.

Additionally, unwanted websites can be blocked from search results for popular search engines such as Google, Yandex, Bing and Yahoo. Depending on parent settings, potentially dangerous apps or webpages can be immediately blocked. Alternatively, the child may be warned that their opening is not recommended.
• Facebook Activity: Parents, through their My Kaspersky account, can see a summary of children's activity on Facebook, such as changes in the number of friends and their publications. So they can immediately spot signs indicating that the child is in trouble.
• Calls and Written Messages: An additional option for devices with Android software is to provide statistics about the contacts from which the child receives calls and SMS messages (so as not to violate privacy, the text of the messages is not displayed). The solution also allows parents to select individual contacts from the settings, which may be suspicious. If any of these individuals are trying to get in touch with the child, the parent is notified.
• Location: This feature allows parents to know where their child is at certain times and create a perimeter that is expected to be at certain times. If the child leaves the specified area, parents are notified. This feature is only available for Android and iOS software when the GPS is active and the device is connected to the Internet.
If a child is faced with a threat, one of the adult family members receives email and / or message in a notification format (if the parental version of Safe Kids is installed on the parent's device). In their My Kaspersky account, parents can also see a summary and detailed statistics about their children's online activities every day, week or month.
Information obtained from the use of Safe Kids gives parents the opportunity to talk to their child more specifically, to correct possible mistakes or to intervene at the appropriate time to help and protect children. Also, Kaspersky Lab specialists suggest the following:
• If your child uses multiple devices at the same time, it is best to install a security solution on each one of them
• Even if your child uses the device at home under your supervision, they may still come into contact with unwanted content. Therefore, it is recommended installation security solutions on these devices as well.
• Explain to your child why you do this. Tell him that it is important to you and ask him not to ignore the suggestions of the protection solution.
