KB5035853 BSOD warning in Windows 11

KB5035853 is a new one which is released as part of Windows 2024 March 11 Update and brings some notable improvements.

For example, it lets you use the Snipping Tool to quickly edit screenshots taken with your Android phone. Immediately after taking a screenshot, a notification appears that allows you to immediately .

But after installing the cumulative update, the problems start.

There are many who mention Blue of Death right after logging into their updated system. The reason given on the BSOD screen is “Thread Stuck in Device Driver”, which does not explain the problem.

BSOD

One user says:

“We have a range of Lenovo AMD devices, all model numbers 21B9. Right now after the KB5035853 update it is in a loop asking for the Bitlocker password. Five devices started doing this this afternoon after the update, unable to uninstall it. This, of course, causes a major problem with the customer."

Several users experienced significant slowdowns after installing Windows 11 March 2024 , with one reporting that their device "stuck" and another reporting prolonged boot times.

In a Reddit thread, some users are reporting an increase in Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) since the update, and some are reporting memory management errors. Another big problem is that some users find that they can't start Windows 11 at all after updating.

How do you fix these problems? If you manage to get into your system you can manually uninstall the update causing them (Settings > Windows Update > Uninstall). Removing the problematic update from the device always works.
