The KDE Project today released KDE Frameworks 5.79, its monthly update software open source that contains 83 additional libraries to Qt to provide the functionality required in the KDE Plasma desktop.
Highlights of KDE Frameworks 5.79 include a much improved Dolphin file manager that now better handles files containing non-ASCII characters, supports displaying thumbnail previews for .ANI animated Windows cursor files, and no longer crashes on exit copyor moving a large number of files in quick succession.
Additionally, when you open a file in a KDE application that was downloaded from a browser, you can regain access to the file site.
Okular Document Viewer also has, like, the KDE Connect app that lets you manage alerts by smartphone Android. The KDE Connect app can now better handle more notifications without any downtime.
System Settings has been updated to avoid error while navigating the "Appearance" tab of the Screen Lock page.
This version also adds support for KDE applications to remember the minimized or maximized window state when closed and reopened, adds the ability to edit the .desktop file without "freezing" the Plasma desktop session.
KDE Frameworks 5.79 brings a new icon disk and better support for disk gadgets with expandable task lists when using non-default fonts or font sizes
There are generally over 300 changes in this version and you can see them at changelog.
