In Saudi Arabia, the world's tallest building will be built. According to Construction Weekly, its height will reach 999.744 meters which means it Kingdom Tower will exceed 173.126 meters Khalifa Tower the current holder of the Guinness World Record in neighboring Dubai.

Kingdom Tower
The name of the tower as mentioned above will be the Kingdom Tower and will be the first phase of a Jeddah Economic Company project whose construction will cost 20 billions of dollars. It will occupy 17 million square feet of the Kingdom City project, which is the project of Prince Saudi Arabia Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, nephew of Saudi king Abdullah, who happens to be the president of Kingdom Holding Company. Kingdom Holding Company belongs to the Jeddah Economic Company.
"Our vision for the Kingdom Tower is to represent the new spirit of Saudi Arabia," saidhe in a press release Adrian Smith, co-founder of Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill Architecture, the who designed the tower. "The tower symbolizes the Kingdom as a major global business and cultural leader, and demonstrates the strength and creative vision of its people."

The foundation work for the skyscraper that will cost 1.200.000.000 dollars began in December, and overhead projects will start from April 27. The tower will have 200 floors and is located in Jeddah, a culturally important city near the Red Sea, also known as the Gateway to Mecca.
Building a building of this size has many challenges. Architects should worry about its resistance to seawater and strong winds, how the concrete will rise to the higher floors, etc. The construction site occupies 5,7 million square feet, and the work will require about 80.000 tons of steel.
