South Korea's electronics maker, LG, is reportedly the last big company to hit the WannaCry ransomware.
The WannaCry first released in May of this year, is a form of ransomware that exploits a vulnerability of Windows που έχει επιδιορθωθεί ήδη από τη Microsoft λίγο μετά την κυκλοφορία του.
But this never happened with LG's systems and apparently one service self-service platform the company operated in South Korea has been infected with WannaCry.
At present, it is not known how many computers were infected on the LG network, so the company decided to disable some of its systems to prevent the spread of ransomware. LG has announced it will not pay a ransom.
"We analyzed the malicious code that caused delays in some customer service centers on August 14 with the help of KISA [Korea Internet & Security Agency] and we confirmed that it was indeed ransomware. According to KISA, yes it was the WannaCry ransomware,” said Mrfaceof the company.
LG has managed to restore all affected systems in less than 2 days, but it does not seem to have identified how it was infected by ransomware.
On the other hand, what is certain and known is that computers infected by WannaCry were not updated with Microsoft's latest updates.
