The famous suite of office applications developed by the Linux Foundation, LibreOffice, has closed the four years of life and developers are celebrating the event.
Four years ago, a group of developers broke away from OpenOffice.org and started LibreOffice. Their goal was to improve OpenOffice.org and turn the entire suite into a much more accessible and lightweight solution software.
A large part of his community Linux thought that the project will not thrive and that it will eventually slowly disappear. This did not happen and LibreOffice managed to exceed all of our expectations.
A good measure of success LibreOffice is the fact that many cities around the world are turning to LibreOffice and give up proprietary software. The suite is quite functional and easy to use and so it has been adopted by many people from all over the world. A real triumph of open source and free software.
Meanwhile, the Linux Foundation has just released it LibreOffice 4.3.2 to celebrate this anniversary. It is the most advanced version currently available, and it runs on, Linux, Windows or Mac OS X.
