Linus Torvalds and the team announced its official release Linux kernel 4.5. The new kernel is already available for download.
The new Linux kernel 4.5 final to complete was passed from 7 Total RC releases (Release Candidate) from 25 January and beyond. The latest RC version was announced by Linus Torvalds at 6 March.
New features of Linux kernel 4.5 include support for AMD PowerPlay power management technology, high AMDGPU performance open-source driver for Radeon GPUs, improvements to Btrfs file system free space management, and better Epoll multi-threaded scalability.
It supports GCC (GNU Compiler Collection)'s UndefinedBehaviorSanitizer (UBSan) and the memory controller now offers logically correct sockets memory, madvise() now supports the MADV_FREE flag.
Another important element of Linux 4.5 Kernel is the addition of a copy_file_range system call for copying files without the need to transfer data through userspace. The new feature is known as copy offloading.
The internal code name of the Linux kernel 4.5 is "Blurry Fish Butt."
