Clement Lefebvre has announced the upcoming beta snapshot Linux Mint 20, codenamed “Ulyana”, is available for testing.
This major new release is based on Ubuntu 20.04 and as usual, comes in three separate PC versions with Cinnamon, MATE and Xfce.
It will be supported with bug fixes and security updates for the next five years.
“Linux Mint 20 is a long-term support release that will be supported until 2025. It comes with updated software, brings improvements and many new features to make the surface your workplace even more comfortable to use.”
One of the interesting news characteristics of Linux Mint 20 is a new app called Warpinator:
“The star in Linux Mint 20 is a new app called Warpinator. Ten years ago, Linux Mint 6 introduced one tool which was called “Giver.” With this particular tool you could have file sharing on your local network. Without a server or setup, your computers could automatically see each other and you could simply drag and drop files from one computer to another.
When the Giver project stopped, it had to be removed from Linux Mint. This functionality has been missing since then. Warpinator is a re-implementation of Giver. ”
