The Electronic Crime Prosecutor's Office warns Internet users of the "Crypto-Malware" malware - a digital threat, in the country of Locky.
The aim through the software is to pay sums of money as "ransom" in order to unlock - decrypt the digital archives and data stored on the user's computer that is infected by the virus. 
Malware called "Locky" can affect all versions of the operating system and spreads mainly through infected emails.
The Greek Police's Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate is informing citizens about the emergence of malicious software called "Locky" in our country. This malicious software is an evolution of known malware «Cryptolocker» ή «Ransomware», is one of the kind of digital threats Crypto-Malware and can affect all operating systems.
In particular, this particular malware spreads – it is mainly transmitted via e-mails, which carry an infected attachment archive, as well as when we visit unsafe or infected websites.
After being installed in the operating system, this malicious software, using a sophisticated encryption system, encrypts – locks various types of digital files, (indicative: *.doc, *.docx, *.xls, *.ppt, *.psd, *.pdf, *.eps, *.ai, *.cdr, *.jpg, etc.), which are stored on the computer of the user infected by the virus, giving them the extension ``locky'', while in order to unlock the files, the perpetrators ask the user to pay a sum of money.
Payment of the money to its developers Locky it is proposed to be done, through an anonymous browser, using the digital currency bitcoin (BTC), following a message displayed to the user, with hints and payment instructions.
Internet users are being asked not to pay the money they are called for to discourage such illegal practices as well as to prevent the spread of the phenomenon, and they should be very careful and take digital protection and security measures to prevent the abovementioned malware.
Specifically:

Citizens receiving emails from unknown senders or unknown sources are required not to open the links and not download the attachments contained therein for which they are not sure about the sender and the contents of the attachment file.

In addition, users must be extremely suspicious of the emails that sender seems to be a service or company.

It is recommended to type the web page addresses (URLs) into the browser (browser), instead of using hyperlinks.

Use genuine software programs and update them regularly, and there must always be an up-to-date protection program (a ntivirus) on your computer.

Check and keep up-to-date the version of their operating system.

Back up their backup files at regular intervals in an external storage medium so that in case of "malware" malicious software can be restored to their files.
