The Chipmaker Micron released a microSD with a capacity of 1,5 TB, enough to hold four months of continuous security camera footage, according to the company.
The new i400 [PDF] was announced at the Embedded World 2022 conference in Nuremberg, Germany, and is said to be the microSD card with the highest capacity to date.
With a capacity of up to 1,5 TB, the i400 microSD card is suitable for video storage (it can store up to 120 days of security video locally).
In addition to security videos, there are many other applications in everyday life and in the IoT where large volumes of data need to be stored, managed and analyzed, rather than simply transmitted to a central repository for processing.
Micron claims that using the i400 microSD card as primary storage for apps will provide users with real-time AI insights and faster decision-making in smart κάμερες και άλλες Appliances.
The i400 can simultaneously handle 4K video recordings with "up to eight artificial intelligence events per second," according to Micron, which obviously means simultaneously accessing application data for non-object detection such as license plates or face recognition.
The microSD is made with Micron 3D NAND 176 level technology, which the company has been using since the end of 2020.
