The first Delta Updates are here: Microsoft has released the new cumulative updates for the Windows 10 as part of it Patch Tuesday this month. However, it seems that the company was released for the first time Delta Updates through the Update Catalog.
The first Delta updates or Delta Updates είναι διαθέσιμες για τις πλατφόρμες 32 και 64-bit των Windows 10 αλλά και του Windows Server 2016.
What are Delta Updates?
As you know, cumulative updates as implied by their name are cumulative, which means that they include all the fixes that were released earlier. This means that installers are growing every month, as cumulative updates include all previous Windows 10 updates.
The Delta updates or Delta are now cumulative updates that include only the changes made since the previous cumulative update version. In other words, if you install the cumulative updates every month, you won't need to download the full installer but only the Delta update you need.
So Delta updates are and will be significantly smaller in size so installation is faster and much easier, especially on large computer networks.
The advantages of the size of Delta updates are first seen with updates this month. For example, the x64 cumulative update of Windows 10 released today reaches 1,1 GB in size, and the corresponding Delta update is significantly smaller on 700 MB.
