Microsoft has released free Windows 10 virtual machines that include Microsoft Edge Legacy and Internet Explorer 11, and you can use them for up to 90 days to test applications or for any other reason.
After the official release of Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, Microsoft plans to install the application on your PC through Windows Update. During this installation process, the older browser (Microsoft Edge Legacy) will be removed unless you block Windows Update.
For those who no longer have Edge Legacy and IE 11 or want to try from another operating system, Microsoft released free Windows 10 virtual machines that have these browsers installed.
When downloading Windows 10 VM, you can choose a virtual VirtualBox, VMware, Vagrant, HyperV and Parallels machine depending on the software you are using.
After extracting the file you will have 7GB containing pre-installed Windows 10 version 1809 (build 17763.379). This build comes from the cumulative update of Patch Tuesday, March 20, 2019.
The VM contains a pre-installed user named 'IEUser' with a password of accesss the 'Passw0rd!'.
If you do not have a license for VMware applications, Parallels can be used for free VirtualBox to run your personal VM.
Just remember, once enabled, you only have 90 days to use the VM before it expires.
