Microsoft's Edge is the new default browser in Windows 10, and the company seems to be putting a lot of effort into improving this app. Of course the ultimate goal is to develop a better one browser from the main competing products.
Recent reports indicate that these efforts seem to bear fruit, at least in terms of JavaScript.
One of the main focus points in its development Edge Microsoft was to make JavaScript the fastest in the company mentioned in one Publication today. The company explains that the Chakra JavaScript engine is faster than any other 64-bit browser currently on the market.
To determine how fast Edge is, Microsoft tested its new browser on two different benchmarks, Octane 2.0 and Jet Stream. Testing showed that in both benchmarks, Edge performs surprisingly well, scoreάροντας καλύτερα από τους ανταγωνιστές Firefox και Chrome, αλλά και από τον Internet Discover.
According to Microsoft's test results, Edge is over 1,6 times faster than the Apple benchmark for Jet Stream, and 2.25 times faster than Google Chrome in the Octane 2.0 test.
The company also reports that it has run Chrome Channary testing as it thinks its Edge is also beta.
Please note that these tests were performed by Microsoft itself, it only examines JavaScript, not the overall performance. We will probably have to wait for upcoming third party tests before making any conclusions.
Nevertheless, the news is quite encouraging for the difference speedbetween Edge and Internet Explorer only. It seems that with Windows 10, browsing the web can be remarkably faster than if you were using Internet Explorer before.
