Microsoft announced that it will issue 11 security bulletins for the month of December, pushing the total number of patches at 106 for the whole year 2013.
Mr. Wolfgang Kandek of the website Qualys, who he analyzed the number of security bulletins from Microsoft in recent years, reported that the total number was increased by 83 issued in 2012, which means that Redmond paid a little more attention to the security holes this year.
"With the patches of December, the total number of security cards for 2013 amounts to 106, much more than the count of the previous year which was 83, but almost at the same levels as in 2011 (100 tickets) and 2010 (106 tickets). Microsoft has also maintained a continuous flow of vouchers, which started 2012 with an average just below 9 bulletins per month, compared to the most explosive bi-monthly version of previous years, "he said.
While many would believe that an increasing number of security bulletins is also a sign that software products are becoming more vulnerable to attack, it is also a sign that Microsoft is now moving to fix flaws much faster, spending money to pay much more attention to the overall security of its software.
