The upgrades to Windows 10 are growing, there's no doubt about it, but in the last month, the new operating system has managed to grow its adoption numbers even more.
May was a month full of criticism aimed at Microsoft's very aggressive Windows 10 policy. This came about mainly because too many users they were forced to upgrade to the new OS because the company left them no choice.
There have been claims that Microsoft automatically programmed it upgrade to Windows 10 on a large number of computers, while others complained that the upgrade window had no cancellation options.
As this tactic proves to be fruitful, Wind Winds 10 managed to increase their share to record levels in the past month.
Data provided by StatCounter for May show that, worldwide, Windows 10 was able to reach 19,98 percent of market share, while Windows 7 is still ahead of 43.28 percent. All other operating systems, Windows or not, are far behind and below 10%.
In Europe, Windows 10 has a much better rate and is already at 24,58%, but they are still behind Windows 7, which dominate the charts with 38,98%.
Mac OS X is in third place with 11.21%. The difference between Windows 10 and Windows 7 in the Old Continent is therefore smaller, which means that the reversal of positions could take place earlier in Europe than in other markets.
In North America, Windows 7 runs on 36,7% of computers while Windows 10 is preceded by 22,64 percent. OS X is again in third place with 15,77 percent.
But it's Asia's huge market that determines the winners: Asia is the only market where Windows 10 is still in very low numbers, with Windows 7 powering 50,8 percent of local PCs. Microsoft's new operating system comes in second with just a 15,25%, and it's close to Windows XP, which are still running on 9,2% of PCs.
