Microsoft: new updates for data collection from Windows 7

Microsoft's goal to install Windows 10 on 1 billion devices up to 2017 is known. What was not known was what the company would use to make it happen. The logical and expected for the company, is to switch to earlier versions of Window.Windows 10 Spying

So because there are so many Windows 7 users who do not seem to be tempted by its offer upgrade to Windows 10, the company decided to take a different path, to force them.

So Microsoft originally released some updates that encourage users to upgrade their system.

But it turns out that the company recently re-released them for Windows 7 users who had blocked the originals, and were not allowing notifications to appear on their computers.

InfoWorld Woody Leonhard reports that a total of six patches have been re-released. These include not only updates that encourage upgrading to Window 10, but also some updates that were used to allow data collection from Window 7.

Most of these updates are marked as "important" for Windows 7 PCs, and appear as recommended by Windows Update.

See the updates that Microsoft re-releases in the following list:

The update installs the Get Windows 10 app on .1 and Windows 7 SP1 (KB3035583) Enables Get Window 10 app on Windows 7 and 8.1
Compatibility Update for Upgrading Window 7 (KB2952664) Enables telemetry on Window PCs.

So if you do not want to upgrade to Window 10 or if you do not want telemetry services on your computer, you should avoid installing these updates.

Needless to say, Microsoft recommends to everyone their installation.
