Microsoft is preparing to end support for Office 2007 next year. Without a doubt, many users and Companies they will start looking for new software, as happens every time Microsoft stops support for one of its products.
Of course, many still hope that Microsoft will extend the support of the software beyond the date it has announced, as happened with Windows XP. For now, however, company says in a statement that as of October 2017 there will be no way to update Office 2007 and thus will not receive security patches.
The company's aim is obviously to get more users to switch to Office 365 or to a newer version of the suite, such as Office 2016.
What's important to know is that Microsoft won't offer extra custom support beyond the deadline he announced, as he has done in the past at agencies such as the State Department.
"Office 2007 products will go out of support over the next 12 months in accordance with the Microsoft Lifecycle policy. After these end-of-support dates, we will not offer additional custom support for any version of Office products (Exchange Server, Office Suites, SharePoint Server, Office Communications Server, Lync Server, Skype for Business Server, Project Server and Visio)"Says the company.
"In the past, we have offered additional support for a subset of Office products to clients with Premier support contracts. But we have seen the demand for custom support diminish as most of our clients move to Office 365. ”
