Microsoft may have laid off thousands from its handset division, but that doesn't necessarily mean the company is going to abandon development of Windows Phone and Lumia devices.
Redmond is said to continue with mobiles, but apparently, with a slightly different approach.
"We will focus on channels and markets that offer the best returns… Phones remain a critical component of Microsoft's device portfolio and an important comeye of our strategy, but restructuring is needed,” Turner explained.
In an internal memo sent by Kevin Tuner COO of Microsoft, η εταιρεία αναφέρει ότι θα συνεχίσει με τις απολύσεις, από τα τμήματα πωλήσεων και marketing, σύμφωνα με το σχέδιο του Satya Nadella, but no details were given.
Turner said sales and marketing departments would also lose some employees, but he did not give more details.
"We expect the changes to lead to difficult decisions with staff reductions. There may also be other reductions. "These transitions are difficult and for the employees who may be affected by these plans, I would like to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to them for their services and dedication to Microsoft."
Microsoft laid off 18.000 people after the acquisition of Nokia and apparently seeks to complete the restructuring process by laying off more employees. CEO Satya Nadella said that by the end of the year, the "Microsoft news" will be reborn and should be complete.
This of course does not know what it means, but it is clear that the company will continue to cut through the redundancies.
