Microsoft restricts uploading of Skype files to 100 MB

Microsoft no longer allows you to share Skype files larger than 100MB.

Skype Web

The "file sharing" service at Skype or Whatsapp between contacts is extremely convenient and easy, since all you need to do is drop a file into your chat window and it will be transferred to your conversation. A recent change however, Microsoft has brought bad luck to lovers of this feature.

The company limits the in Skype up to 100 MB, so if the file you want to send is larger than this number, you will get an error message and you will be banned from the corresponding exchange. The best way now to send files larger than 100MB is to either upload them to onedrive and then give your contact the link to download them, or simply split the file into multiple 100MB files and then send them one to one via Skype.

Additionally, if you're sending files to a contact and you lose your Internet connection for any reason, Skype now supports automatic pausing, allowing you to resume the transfer when you reconnect. This is useful, especially for , which take longer to go online.

Last but not least, it's worth knowing that files transferred as part of your Skype conversation remain available for download for 30 days. Once this period expires, the download button turns into a thumbnail that displays the message “The file is not ".

All of these changes have been implemented by Microsoft without bubbles, and many of you are likely to be surprised by Skeppe's behavior.
