Microsoft announced today that the proletterthe tourWindows servers will stop supporting RC4 encryption on HTTPS connections starting next month.
RC4 is a stream cipher designed to support 1987 in all browsers and online encryption services.
But over the years, too many vulnerabilities have been discovered in this encryption algorithm, making it possible to bypass and break the cipher within days or even within hours.
In February of 2015, the new attacks led the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to prohibit the use of the cipher and to replace encryption with TLS. Google, Microsoft and the Mozilla Foundation have promised to stop using RC4 on their browsers since this year, and they have been honored since January.
But the unfortunate fact that it took Microsoft three extra months to remove RC4 compared to Google and the Mozilla Foundation who stopped supporting it in January 2016 shows us how seriously it takes the themesecurity the company.
You can say good luck rather than ever, but it's not like that. Let's remind you that Microsoft distributes its browser through operating systems it sells on the market.
It would be good to learn to be more respectful of the security of its customers and generally of the people who finance it and it exists.
