Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system has approximately 18 months of official support. But Microsoft has started pushing a full-screen message on Windows 10 devices.
The message first reported by users on Reddit, and informs Windows 10 users of the end of support for the operating system in 2025 stating:
A new journey with Windows.
We want to thank you for your loyalty as a Windows 10 customer. As the end of support for Windows 10 approaches, we're here to support you on your PC journey.
Your PC is not eligible to upgrade to Windows 11, but will continue to receive Windows 10 fixes and security updates until support ends on October 14, 2025.
While it's good that Microsoft is letting customers know about the end of support, there's no closure and exit for this particular message. You can click “remind me later”, but that means it will pop up again.
Of course, as you understood by reading the message, it is aimed at users running devices that are not compatible with Windows 11.
Microsoft's proposed solution is simple: buy a new Windows 11 PC and migrate your data to the new PC to continue using a supported version of Windows 11.
In other words, this Windows 10 expiration reminder reminds you that there is nothing you can do except buy a new computer.
The company omits information
Microsoft in its latest message does not mention anything about the option of “Extended Security Updates” or Extended Security Updates to its Windows 10 home customers. The company has already announced the extension of support for its enterprise customers and costs $427 over three years.
The company has not yet announced pricing for consumers.
