Microsoft converts the living room into a holographic VideoGame

The next step in the field of VideoGame was taken by Microsoft introducing a new system that transforms a living room (or any room) into a holodeck, the impressive room that existed in the Star Trek world in which someone entered and interacted with holograms.

RoomAlive, as called the new system, turns the room into a videogame environment.

Live room

RoomAlive uses existing Microsoft home entertainment technologies, especially those behind Kinect, but within a new groundbreaking architecture. Six cameras similar to those used in Kinect along with six image projectors are placed in different parts of the room, the ceiling, the floor, the walls and the furniture. The cameras on the ceiling map the space and create a three-dimensional model. This is to adapt the hologram system to the dimensions of the room so that the virtual environment that will be created is as realistic as possible.

Applications

The first presentation of the new system took place on Monday in στη Χαβάη. τένις Μια ακόμη ιδιαίτερα ενδιαφέρουσα εφαρμογή του συστήματος είναι ότι θα μπορεί ο κάτοχος του να καλεί τους φίλους του και να βλέπουν or even movies in 360 degrees.
