Microsoft today announced the official end of support for Windows Vista, a functional system which has been around for the past 10 years, and can be seen as a failure of the company.
In a new post on the company's support forum, Microsoft announced that as of April 11, 2017, the operating system will no longer receive updates and hotfixes for themesecurity. The company also said it is discontinuing any free or paid support options.
"Microsoft has been providing support for Windows Vista for the past 10 years, but the time has come to invest our resources in the latest technologies so that we can continue to deliver great new experiences."
Vista users will be able to continue using their system after expiration, but developers will gradually cease to develop software for the platform. Of course there will be a risk of falling into various security vulnerabilities.
Microsoft also announced that it would "stop downloading Microsoft Security Essentials software" for Vista.
If you are one of those who have a Windows Vista system, Microsoft advises you to upgrade to Windows 10.
As for us, better try Linux, open source, free and much more secure.
