Although computers have long been shrinking in size, leading to the "explosion" of mobile devices, some areas of technology παραμένουν ίδιοι σε αυτό το κομμάτι, με feature for example printers.
To a large extent this is defined by the "philosophy" that the printer must "accept" and print a sheet of paper, which also defines the size of the device. However, students at the Jerusalem College of Technology (ZUtA Labs Ltd) have taken a different approach by creating a small, portable 'pocket' printer that sits on a piece of paper and uses inkjet technology to print words and pictures, regardless of the size of the page or the device it is connected to.
The Mini Mobile Robotic Printer / Pocket Printer it is at Kickstarter, with the goal of raising $400.000 in funding. It is currently at 168.320, with 29 days left to complete.
The "pocket" printer is charged via a Micro-USB cable and can operate for an hour, while, according to its manufacturers, it has ink for printing 1.000 pages. Connects to other devices via Bluetooth. According to its creators, "we have created a portable printer that is easy and fun to use, can be carried anywhere and prints from any device, on pages of any size." Its dimensions are height 10 cm and diameter 11,5, while its weight is 300 grams. Its print speed is 1,2 ppm. In terms of print quality, the original can reach up to 96 × 192 dpi, however it is argued that the final product will have a higher resolution. Supported operating systems are Android, iOS, Linux, OSX, Windows.
