Modern telecommunications media allow you to see and hear from long distances - but they can do nothing about the sense of touch. Scientists from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) decided to change that.
A team by MIT Media Lab has developed, the inFORM a table that can display digital information in a way that enables it to be felt by touch. A computer δημιουργεί τα δεδομένα με πλαστικές ακίδες που ανεβοκατεβαίνουν για να σχηματίσει ένα σχήμα 3D. Το Project it also contains a Microsoft Kinect sensor to detect a person's movements.
As the MIT demo video shows us, inFORM could be used by designers to create physical models without 3D prints, by doctors to look at cross sections and by students to visualize mathematical equations.
