Mozilla has made some changes to the Firefox program, and it seems likely to give developers more time between upgrades.
One of the biggest changes ever made Firefox was the continuous release of upgrades, which meant much more flexibility. This began four years ago when Firefox was in the 3.5 version. He is now in 44 and he will probably continue to go with this crazy program. The main difference is that it will no longer have a release schedule of six weeks.
There are some huge wins with this model. For example, users no longer have to wait for months for certain features to land on the stable branch, and everything is implemented at a much faster pace. The disadvantages cannot be ignored. Developers working against a clock and new versions of Firefox are also landing with bugs and other security issues.

12/13/2016 - Firefox 50.0.1 (5 week cycle, placement in critical fixes, as required)
01/24/2017 - Firefox 51 (6 weeks from the previous version).
