Mozilla appears to be giving up on smartphones after announcing today that it will stop developing and selling it Firefox OS for smartphones.
The announcement was made today at the Mozilla event "Mozlando” in Orlando. After that Mozilla released a full statement from Ari Jaaksi, Mozilla's SVP of Connected Devices.
“Firefox OS has proven the versatility of the Web, from low-end smartphones to HDTVs. However, we are unable to provide the user with the best possible experience, so we will stop providing Firefox OS for smartphones through channela transport.
We will share more soon information about our work and new experiments for all connected devices.”
The Firefox OS was first revealed in 2013, targeting the developing world and low-cost mobile phones.
