Mozilla seems to be abandoning smartphones after announcing today that it will stop developing and selling Firefox OS for smartphones.
The announcement was made today at the Mozilla event "MozlandoIn Orlando. Mozilla then released a full statement from Ari Jaaksi, Mozilla Connected Devices SVP.
"Firefox OS has proven the flexibility of the Web, from low-end smartphones to HD TVs. However, we are not able to offer the user the best possible experience and so we will stop providing Firefox OS for smartphones through the transfer channels.
We will soon be sharing more information about our project and new experiments for all connected devices. ”
The Firefox OS was first revealed in 2013, targeting the developing world and low-cost mobile phones.
