Add subtitles to Netflix

After yesterday's announcement of the arrival of Netflix subscription service in Greece the Greeks have already started the of the platform. But the first "cold" came from the streaming of the very first movie since there are no subtitles. netflix

The good thing is that the service is now legal in Greece and you do not have to use a VPN service to access from a country that was available.

As we mentioned yesterday, Netflix offers a 1 month trial free of charge to everyone as long as you put your card details. The service promises access to unlimited movies, but for now the variety of choice is not so extensive.

But let's see what we can do with subtitles:

There are a few methods that will allow you to add subtitles to any tele series, show or movie that exists in the Netflix database.

Unfortunately, this method can only be used on PCs or Macs, and you can't use it on mobile devices and consoles because you can't access Netflix's "hidden menu" service.
Here are two different methods for adding subtitles:

1 method

If you use Internet , Microsoft Edge or Maxthon, make sure you have the latest version of Silverlight installed. Once you connect to Netflix and try to watch a video, the browser will tell you whether or not you have Silverlight installed, so if you don't, download it for free.

Find which movie you want to watch, and download the subtitle you need from your favorite website. Usually, the subtitle files are saved in .srt format, and Netflix doesn't recognize them as it uses a different format.

But this is not a problem, because there are many applications that can convert your .srt files to .DFXP, the format you need Netflix.

If you do not want to install a file conversion application again, you can use the web page Subflicks to do it online.

So now you have everything ready and want to upload the subtitles to Netflix, but you do not know how to do it since your browser does not have such options in the Settings menu.

But it looks like Netflix has already taken care of it, with a "hidden menu" that is not officially available. The menu can be accessed by: Internet Explorer, Edge, Maxthon, or any other browser using Silverlight.

Press the two keys together: Shift + Alt and click on the video. A small menu will open with many options. Look for what says "Load Custom DFXP File."

Click this option and upload the subtitle file you convert from .srt to DFXP. If subtitles are not synchronized, then Subflicks can sync them for you.

Those of you using other browsers such as Chrome or Opera should use 4 keys: Ctrl + Alt + Shift + T. It won't open the "hidden menu," but will allow you to load a DFXP file directly.

2 method

The second method is simpler, but it's only available for the Chrome browser.

If you are using Chrome you need to download the Super Netflix extension. After installation, you can easily find it from the link below

Super Netflix Chrome Extension

Once you've installed the extension in Chrome, you no longer need the hidden menu or key combination because the extension will load DFXP subtitles as you start watching a movie.
