The new ChaletOS 16.04 just released. The basis of the new operating system is the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus and specifically in Xubuntu flavor.
The operating system is made for Windows lovers who are looking for an alternative open source solution for many different reasons. One of these is the security offered by Linux.
ChaletOS 16.04 can be modded with the pictures of Windows 10 thus giving the impression that you are in a Windows environment.
Icons can be inserted very easily. Download the package (from the link at the end of the post), export the zip file to a new folder in your Home, which you should name ".icons" (without quotes). The .icons folder will be hidden due to the dot in front of its name, so you must have the hidden files displayed to see it.
ChaletOS was first released in January 2015. As we mentioned above, it is based on Xubuntu Linux (it uses surfaceXfce desktop), but is highly customized to resemble recent versions of Windows.
ChaletOS 'attractive design "specifically targets Windows 7 and Vista users who want to move to an open source operating system based on the Linux kernel."
"This system is not very different from the Xubuntu it relies on. "ChaletOS has a style that everyone knows well, with attractive simplicity and impressive speed," says the home page of the project.
